On September 10th, the OWASA Board of Directors approved birdwatching in public areas at our Cane Creek Reservoir on Wednesdays between 7 and 11 AM from November 11, 2015 to March 23, 2016, excluding holidays.
(Mid-November to mid-March is the part of the year when we normally close our lakes.)
Please be aware that:
- Access for birdwatching will be only through our main gate, which is on the north side of NC 54 west of Stanford Road.
- There will be no boating on birdwatching days.
- We will require participants to register at our Cane Creek Reservoir office so we will know who is on the property and why, and to get information on the use of this new program.
- In severe weather or other emergencies, we may need to close the reservoir without advance notice.
The OWASA Board will review the birdwatching program next year in light of experience in the coming months. We will contact you when this matter is scheduled to be considered. The Board decided not to schedule a night event for boating or stargazing.
