On Thursday, June 23rd, the American Red Cross will sponsor a blood drive from 11:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. in the Community Room at the OWASA Administration Building, 400 Jones Ferry Road, Carrboro.
“As the summer begins, with vacations and students out of school for the summer, the need for blood continues,” said Caroline Allison, American Red Cross Donor Recruitment Representative for the Carolinas Blood Services Region. She emphasized that “There is still a need for all blood types, particularly donors with the O negative blood type.”
To participate in a blood drive, donors must be at least 17 years old (or 16 years old with parental consent), weigh at least 110 pounds (donors who are 18 years old and younger must also meet certain height and weight requirements), be in general good health and have photo identification.
The Red Cross will provide food for the blood drive.
Presenting donors will also be eligible to win a $3,000 American Express gift card useable toward rent, mortgage payments, food or gas.
For more information or to schedule an appointment, please contact Wilma Palmer at 919-942-4862 or firstname.lastname@example.org. Getting an appointment will make the donation process faster for everyone who participates. Walk-ins are welcome after noon.
