Work on water tank at Old Fayetteville Road does not affect water pressure/flow

A contractor hired by OWASA plans to begin cleaning and painting OWASA’s water tank on Old Fayetteville Road on Thursday. The tank is on the east side of Old Fayetteville Road north of McDougle Middle School.

The work will last six to eight weeks. OWASA’s contractor will normally work on weekdays between 7 AM and 7 PM.

“This work will help sustain our water quality and reliable water service by protecting the structural integrity of the tank,” said Ken Loflin, OWASA’s Water Supply and Treatment Manager.

The project will not affect water pressures or flows to customers because other tanks in the OWASA water system will remain full and in normal operation. OWASA will also paint the tank a light color that will reduce heat absorption and therefore keep water somewhat cooler.
