This holiday season, Mayor Anderson and Mayor Foushee are daring the communities of Chapel Hill and Carrboro to collectively donate $5,000 to OWASA’s Care to Share program. This donation will help an additional 20 families in need pay their water bills. Donate below to help your neighbors.

Care to Share
Your gift to Care to Share, our community’s water bill assistance program, helps to make sure that no one in our community will have to go without water – or scrimp on medications or food to pay their water bill.
Your gift of just $12.50 added to your water bill each month will help a family in Chapel Hill or Carrboro pay off two monthly water bills.

Are donations to the Care to Share program tax deductible?
Charitable donations are typically tax deductible. We recommend consulting your tax advisor or attorney regarding your Care to Share donations.
Can OWASA reduce rates for families in need or cancel their bills?
Unfortunately, State law forbids OWASA from reducing rates or directly providing bill assistance to low-income customers. All our customers must be charged for our costs to serve them.
Can funds from the Care to Share program be used to repair leaks or to install water-conserving fixtures in the homes of families in need?
No. Care to Share funds may only be used to help customers in need pay their water and wastewater bill.
Does OWASA deduct any administrative expenses from Care to Share donations?
No. Your full donated amount goes directly to help others pay their water bill.
