12 Jul Jody Eimers and Bruce Boehm Appointed to OWASA’s Board of Directors
OWASA is pleased to welcome Jody Eimers and Bruce Boehm to its Board, both of whom recently took the oath of office.
Mrs. Eimers, Scientist Emeritus at the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) in the Office of International Programs, is an Orange County appointee. She brings more than 30 years of leadership experience to the OWASA board, having fulfilled roles such as Supervisory Hydrologist in New York and Chief of Staff in the USGS’ Water Mission Area. As Scientist Emeritus, she delivers presentations on science to support local, state, and federal water resource management to international audiences.
“I believe that water is essential to community growth and development,” said Mrs. Eimers. “I am excited to serve the community, to support water stewardship, and to engage in dialogue with OWASA’s stakeholders on this essential resource.”
Mr. Boehm, an appointee of the Town of Chapel Hill, has led venture capital investments in technology and healthcare companies for more than 35 years. He has also served on private and non-profit boards in these sectors, supporting the growth of these industries in North Carolina, nationally, and globally. He has taught technology commercialization and engineering courses in North Carolina and New Zealand, and has a special interest in public infrastructure.”I look forward to engaging in OWASA’s planning process for water and wastewater infrastructure, which I view as important investments in the local community,” said Mr. Boehm.

OWASA has a nine-member Board of Directors: the Chapel Hill Town Council appoints five, the Carrboro Board of Aldermen appoints two, and the Orange County Board of Commissioners appoints two. OWASA’s Board adopts the annual budget; sets rates, fees and charges based on cost-of-service principles; approves bond issues to fund capital projects; makes policy decisions; and appoints OWASA’s Executive Director, General Counsel and independent auditor.
