15 Apr OWASA Board of Directors Meeting Summary – April 11, 2024
On April 11, 2024, the OWASA Board of Directors met to discuss and vote on several important issues, including the Fiscal Year 2025 budget and the expansion of Water and Sewer Management, Planning and Boundary Agreement (WASMPBA).
- The Board received and discussed budget alternatives for Fiscal Year 2025 and authorized staff to publish a draft of the proposed Fiscal Year 2025 budget, which includes a 15% increase to water and sewer rates. A public hearing will be held on May 9, 2024 to hear community input on the proposed rate increase. The board will vote on the final budget and rate increase on June 13, 2024.
- The Board approved a resolution to amend the WASMPBA. The resolution will expand the water and sewer boundary in southern Chapel Hill along Highway 15-501 to the Chatham County line.
- The Board approved a resolution to apply for state funding for the design of PFAS treatment at the Jones Ferry Road Water Treatment Plant.
- The Board nominated candidates to serve as Chair, Vice Chair, and Secretary for the Fiscal Year 2025 OWASA Board of Directors. Elections are scheduled for June 13, 2024.
