OWASA Board of Directors Meeting Summary for October 8

OWASA’s Board of Directors met virtually on Thursday, October 8, 2020, and considered an agenda that included a proposal providing additional personal leave bonuses to employees in lieu of traditional compensation adjustments, a review of strategic trends and utility planning issues, and the results of the 2020 Board self-assessment.

The Board of Directors is currently meeting virtually due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Personal Leave

The Board approved a proposal providing additional personal leave bonuses to employees in lieu of traditional compensation adjustments. Due to budget impacts from COVID-19, OWASA’s Fiscal Year 2021 Budget does not include compensation adjustments for employees. The increase in personal leave was approved to acknowledge the performance of OWASA’s essential employees.

Strategic Trends and Utility Planning Issues

The Board reviewed an update of strategic trends and utility planning issues for Fiscal Year 2020. This annual report summarizes observed trends in customer growth and demands, water supply and drinking water treatment, wastewater treatment, the reclaimed water system, environmental regulations, and technology to ensure that OWASA continues to provide high-quality water, wastewater, and reclaimed water services.

Self-Assessment

The Board discussed the results of the 2020 Board self-assessment.
