26 Mar OWASA Suspending Paper Notices to Help Mitigate COVID-19 Spread
Orange Water and Sewer Authority is suspending its practice of mailing and handing out paper notices to customers in an effort to help mitigate the spread of COVID-19 by limiting human-to-human interaction. This action follows other precautions put in place by OWASA on March 16.
OWASA customers are encouraged to sign up for OC Alerts in order to receive electronic notices of any outages affecting your address. Please be sure to select OWASA Alerts in the “Non-Emergency Alerts” subscription section of the sign-up process.
Typical OWASA practices include communicating with customers in as many ways as possible, including mailers, door hangers, emails, and through the use of the OWASA website and social media. Until further notice, OWASA will rely on electronic communication to alert customers about any construction updates for ongoing projects or for Boil Water Advisories impacting their homes and businesses during emergency repair work and planned outages.
OWASA will also begin posting every Boil Water Advisory and All Clear notice issued on our website in an effort to keep the community informed and to eliminate any confusion about where a Boil Water Advisory is in effect as each advisory typically affects a small portion of the service area across Carrboro and Chapel Hill.
