Raleigh Street Sewer Line Repair
What/why: Clay 12” sewer is collapsing in several locations along Raleigh Street. 3 point repairs (approximately 10-16 feet deep) needed to restore the sewer. Then the sewer along the whole stretch from South Road to Lenoir street will be lined with a cured in place pipe (CIPP) liner.
Where: Raleigh Street between Lenoir and South Road
Timeline: Construction starts Monday 2/27 and will last approximately 3 weeks (weather and unforeseen conditions not included)
Work hours: 8AM-6:30 PM
Traffic Control: For the first week to week and a half the road will be closed along Raleigh Street near Davis Library. There will be a detour along Country Club Road. See attached map. For the later half of the second week there will be no north bound traffic on Raleigh Street, but the southbound lane will be open.
Impacts: Expect noise, dust, mud for point repairs. Lining may also cause some smells.
Coordination is ongoing with all UNC Utilities and others who may be impacted.
